Simple – US government is the largest share holder in GM and now the government is giving billions to consumers to buy their product. They could have done the same with AIG and give kickbacks for buying insurance or Fannie and Freddie and pay for home down-payments. Why not bailout the Airlines and pay half the cost of an airline ticket? Capitalism? Socialism? What is it and what is going on? Where are the demonstrators, the tax payers?
The warm-and-fuzzy Obama doll liberal Democrats hold dear to their hearts is revealed here to be–like a teddy bear or the Tooth Fairy–a fiction. Perhaps it is their way of suspending disbelief so as to remain on the ego trip that got this radical Leftist elected president. Many of them imagine fine and noble sentiments running through His divine mind when he learns of the damage he caused. Irrelevant! All that matters is the damage he caused. Wake the hell up, you damned, childish fools!

C4C: Smart Politics. If Congress taxes you $500 to create auto jobs, the victims are invisible and are only revealed by asking what you would have done with the $500 if left in your hands. Your own spending would have created jobs too but you can’t point to who the beneficiaries would have been. They’re invisible. Politicians love making victims of their policies invisible & beneficiaries visible because the beneficiaries will know who to vote for and victims won’t know who to blame .
C4C Dumb Economics: Any so-called stimulus program is a ruse. Government increases its spending only by reducing private spending equivalently. Whether government finances its added spending by hiking taxes, borrowing, or by inflating the currency, the added spending will be offset by reduced private spending. Plus, private spending’s much more efficient than government spending replacing it because people act more carefully spending their own money than spending other people’s money.

This line of thinking is flawed and sadly devoid of reason. Yes companies can outsource work to take advantage of cheap labor, but lets not pretend it is as simple as lowering the bottom line in the United States and Canada. The majority of cheap labor comes at the expense of underprivileged citizens of poor countries. Thinking that falls in line with your economics reasoning fails to mention the exploitative measures large corporations use to get the work done cheaper. Shame on you!
$23.7 Trillion has been laundered through the Federal Reserve… So far! If you follow the questioning of Bernanke he admits they have no responsibility to tell the US citizens where it went either. I hope they implement the “Audit The Fed” bill, and account for all the money that has been stolen by the bureaucrats.

The government regulates minimum wage and laws concerning hours of work. We need to keep those laws but what we don’t need are these unions. In economics, labor should be sorted according to a country’s comparative advantage; if another country can produce the same cars cheaper, then those jobs should be outsourced. What happens is those who lose their jobs have new opportunities in fields where the US has a comparative advantage, so the net effect is not a loss of jobs but a transfer of jobs.
25% of American’s don’t have jobs… So who is buying the cars and taking advantage of the program? Did you know that they spent so much money on the bailouts that they could have paid out every single mortgage in the United States? I mean EVERY one, even the $25 000 000 homes. Wouldn’t it have made sense to free up the pocketbooks of the citizens to create money flow? Why only reward the rich? Because they run the show and we are the slaves, people need to realize we are on the extinction list.

Other domesticated societies already have descent pay and benifits. Shall we revert back to 16 hour, seven day a week child labor for pennies an hour. Those are the countries we buy our shit from and export jobs. You do make a very good arguement though for universal healthcare in the states.
This is what happens when labour unions get what they want. When unions demand unreasonable pay and benefits (GM) relative to other foreign automakers with factories in North America (Honda, Nissan, Toyota…), costs for a company like GM increase such that they are forced to produce vehicles of a lower quality at a higher price. In an economic downturn, this forces companies like GM to go bankrupt, and the union lobby pushes the government to keep GM afloat and support BS programs like this.
Couldn’t agree more – I bought Hyundai, and I looked at North American before I did – Just not the same quality, efficiency, or price.
Mine was base price under $10K for 50 mpg highway … how could I not eh?
